Vaughan Charity Golf Tournament Using RFID Technology to Engage Participants
This year’s Alternatives Golf Tournament participants will be engaged and tested by tapping their RFID badges by being asked a number of questions about the charity to help determine the smartest & best foursome. By answering questions correctly, foursomes will be able to improve their overall golf score and therefore increase their chances of winning the tournament.
The badges are using NFC/ RFID technology and being provided by Toronto-based RFID Canada & Bash Interative that are known for delivering innovative RFID solutions at events that can get event-goers deeply engaged by simply tapping their badges. Filipe Laborde-Basto, the Director of Technology at Bash Interactive said “All of our RFID-based TAP2 products are like LEGO blocks and can seamlessly integrate with each other. You can capture and share your photos, share your information and like posts on Facebook, all in one tap”.
Lately, many event organizers, including charities are challenged with finding fun and innovative ways to engage their attendees and are looking to RFID/NFC technology & social media to build some memorable experiences. Bob Moroz, President of RFID Canada stated ‘We wanted to engage this year’s Alternatives charity event attendees beyond just playing golf and felt this could be accomplished by using RFID. Each participant will now be able to showoff their knowledge as well as learn valuable information on the ‘Alternatives’ charity that we all came here to support in the first place.” Bob also mentioned that the charity fundraiser event will help with day programs for the disabled and continue to accommodate those in the community that are in need.
Alternatives is a Canadian charity that runs day program for adults with developmental disabilities and was established by a group of concerned parents in 1998. On September 17th, the Vaughan-based charity is holding their 13th Annual Charity Golf Classic at the Country Club and Montecassino in Woodbridge.
