(RFIDWorld.ca) TAGSYS, the largest item-level RFID provider, recently announced that it has teamed up with the VICS Item Level RFID Initiative (VILRI). VILRI strongly supports the use of EPC-enabled RFID in the retail supply chain. Through building this partnership, TAGSYS has not only joined VICS but has created relations with leading brand owners, industry trade associations, technology vendors and manufacturers.

VILRI is administered by VICS—Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions Association—which is devoted to finding as many benefits as possible in the usage of item-level RFID applications for business processes within the retail value chain.

TAGSYS will bring an immense amount of resource to help VILRI in gaining business and technical process knowledge. Also by supporting VILRI, TAGSYS will have the opportunity to meet and educate potential customers for applications in the retail sector.

Douglas Karp, VP of North American Operations for TAGSYS, stated that TAGSYS is already completely intertwined with the retail footwear and clothing supply chain and thus they recognize the importance of the VICS Item-Level RFID Initiative. He understands how important it is for Item-Level RFID tracking to be incorporated by their existing customers to increase efficiency at many levels. He is convinced that by participating in the VILRI initiative, TAGSYS will be able to further enhance their footprint in the retail supply chain industry, while at the same time gaining a better understanding of customer needs so that better solutions can be built.
